From disaster relief to organizing blood drives, the American Red Cross is a well-known nonprofit organization with a chapter in Western North Carolina. The Red Cross offers classes in CPR, first aid, lifeguarding, and water safety, as well as the opportunity to learn how to swim. Its mission for more than 100 years has been to help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.
